Tutor Hints n Tips. Using AI when tutoring.
In this post, one of our highly rated tutors (4.98/100%) is going to give you her tips on how to make your classes easier and better for both you and the student.
As all tutors probably know, Cambly now has an AI included in your tutor screen that enables you to get prompts for questions to ask students. In all honesty, having tested it out a few times, I have to say it’s pretty sad. It’s basically just ChatGPT’s idiot younger brother! So if you want to use AI (and you really should!!) please use ChatGPT. It’s free to join and will make your tutoring so much easier and more helpful to your students. So let’s show you the best way to integrate it into your classroom.
When I’m tutoring I will have 3 tabs open. These tabs are.. The Cambly classroom (where you will talk with your student). The Cambly Tutor screen (where you can see booked classes and send messages to students etc). And finally the third tab is ChatGPT. As I said before, do yourself a favor and ignore Cambly’s pathetic attempt at “AI”, ChatGPT will give you so much more!!!!
if you have these 3 tabs open it will be extremely helpful while you tutor. Obviously you’re using the first tab to tutor in the classroom, but the second tab (Tutor Screen) is super helpful! For example, sometimes a student may say “Did you get the Link to an article that I sent you?”. Just open your second tab and check your messages. Or maybe you want to check who you have booked after the current class?
The third tab is the one that will be really helpful to you… ChatGPT. Take a look at the screenshot below.
This is a good example of how I use ChatGPT for students. You can see that I’ve had classes on prepositions, business terms and phrases and IELTS for example. It’s a great addition to a tutor’s arsenal and one I wouldn’t be without. The more you use ChatGPT the better you will become at using prompts to get just what you want.
I hope this is helpful for you!
Bye for now. The White Rabbit
