Seems like I’m just not cut out to climb the Cambly ladder.

For those of you out there who are also Supertutors, you’ll know that Cambly recently advertised a position “Working behind the scenes at Tutor Support”.  While I’m quite interested to see what goes on behind the scenes and what makes Cambly tick, I was more impressed by the 50% pay rise offered for the job!  So I applied and filled in the initial form. “I’ve been on Cambly for just over a year, have over 70,000 minutes class time and I’d like to be a part of Cambly because…..”

At this point I’d like to digress a little… Some people have taken to calling themselves part of the “CamFam”.  Really? The CamFam?? *sigh*  What’s next? maybe we’ll get some CamDram on Thursday when the new ratings come out! 😛

Anyway, on with my story. So, I passed the first hurdle and got the “Written test”. Now this threw me a little, the first question was about getting engineers to prioritise certain jobs in 100 hours, but they had 150 hours worth of tasks to do. I answered as best I could and moved on to the other questions, which were pretty much straightforward “A tutor asks this, what is your reply” kinda things. I sent off the reply and, I have to be honest, my hopes were a little high for progressing to the interview. I’ve worked in online support, I have a good  knowledge of online support software and I’m quite handy with the old copy and paste macro (which judging by some replies to me, is  widely used at Cambly)

So I waited. And waited. And waited some more, and this weekend I got the  “Sorry, you’re a great tutor, but yeah, you’re not cut out to go any further” message. So, as this is the third time I’ve failed the written test for various positions, If you’re looking for me, I’ll be sitting in the corner with a tub of Ben and Jerry’s and a Friends Box Set.

Until next time. Alice.

“Curiouser and curiouser!”
