What is Cambly Corner?

Cambly Corner(CC) has been mentioned in a few recent posts, so I thought I’d make a very quick post about it. Cambly Corner is Cambly’s Facebook group for Tutors, and is a place where you can talk with fellow tutors as well as asking questions or giving answers. It’s a very vibrant community and everything tutor related gets discussed there, especially ratings if it’s a Thursday! If you’re having a problem with the platform, head to CC and see if anyone else is having the same problem, if you want some advice about tutoring or have a story to tell about one of your classes, then you can post there for your peers to see it. You’ll quickly realise what a friendly bunch the tutors are.

BUT, and it’s a big but, remember that CC is a Cambly owned facebook group. To join you need to give your Cambly email address and your Cambly name, so remember that anything you post on CC can be traced back to you.  There was a recent job advert for a facebook moderator, so there is at least one person checking posts. Cambly actively promotes “positivity”in CC, so basically, say nice things. Now that’s all well and good, but again, post with care!

If you worked at Mcdonalds, you wouldn’t go into the staff rest-room and bitch about the company or say “Yeah, I’ve been handing out free burgers to my friends” while your boss was listening. So why in the name of God are some of you going into CC and doing just that. For example.. “I don’t care about that exposed shoulders rule. It’s too hot, I always wear a strappy top in my classes. What do you guys think?”  Really? you’ve just admitted that you’re breaking one of Cambly’s tutor rules and posted it in a place where Cambly knows exactly who you are! And then you act surprised and say, “They sent me a message. I don’t believe it, how did they know I teach in a sleeveless top, they must be watching our videos!!” Now, I know that Cambly says you don’t need any qualifications to join, but a few braincells is an advantage!!!

So to finish (I said it was going to be quick!) Cambly Corner is a great place to mix with other tutors and get info from them, but remember to be careful with what you post. 🙂
